His daydream, my nightmare

I promised I wouldn't post again till I finished my thesis, but I saw this article by Christopher Pearson in today's "Australian" and felt sick to the stomach.

While I'm away...

While I'm busy not posting to this blog, I suggest that any of you reading this from a quantum computing background should go to Michael Nielsen's blog and read his post on "Geometry and Quantum Circuits". It is a REALLY interesting topic. Oh, I'm not just writing this because Michael is my supervisor, anyone who has read any of my papers or a draft of my thesis would know that I find this stuff very interesting. Then again, my scientific tastes have definitely been shaped by Michael, so I guess I am telling you to read it because Michael is my supervisor... You guys can decide...

I'll be back soon

To everyone out there in blogneyland,

You may have noticed that I haven't posted much lately. I'm currently in the final stages of writing my thesis and should be finished damn soon. In a few weeks I'll be able to devote some time to writing some half-decent articles from my soon-to-be new home in Austria...

Mental health tip for the day

If you would like to sleep soundly dreaming pleasant dreams about beaches, surf, and other general things in the "raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" category - DO NOT under any circumstances spend a weekend working on your thesis, stressing out, and then drift off to sleep while watching a late-night documentary on Edvard Munch's iconic (and I'm realizing now, horrific) painting "The Scream".
